Press Advisory - C40 São Paulo Summit opening ceremony

Tree planting and City Ballet presentation today, May 31st from 4:30 PM - Ibirapuera Auditorium

Today, May 31st, mayors from the large cities who attend the fourth edition of C40 São Paulo Summit participate in a biodiversity event at Ibirapuera Park.

From 4:30PM, Mayor Gilberto Kassab of Sao Paulo, host of the event, and Mayor Michael Bloomberg of New York, chair of C40, will command a tree planting with all mayors attending C40.

There are going to be planted 59 trees from 12 different species from Brazilian native forest such as sibipiruna, pau Brasil, embaúba and quaresmeira. Together, they will form a C40 Forest.

Press will have access at Gate 3, from 15:30PM

After the tree planting, mayors will attend a City Ballet presentation at Ibirapuera Auditorium. Only previously registered press to cover C40 will have access to the event.

About C40

The C40 Large Cities Climate Summit is a conference that brings together every two years mayors from all over the world to discuss actions and practices in combating climate change. It was created in 2005 in London and its main goal is to deliver international cooperation between large cities to reduce greenhouse gas emission and to promote best practices between public and private institutions in tackling global warming. Michael Bloomberg, Mayor of New York City, is the chair of C40 since last November.
